The best tar remover Leave a comment

Why is an effective tar remover essential for car detailing?

Tar Remover’s job is to remove tar particles from the surface of a car. Its action is based on a chemical reaction – dissolving. It is composed of active substances with microparticles capable of breaking down and effectively removing asphalt-based contaminants. The most important thing when removing tar is to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Tar removers only work for the above-mentioned contaminants. For example, they don’t work on; metal-based particles or other persistent impurities. Here iron removers or clay bars can help.

How do we determine which product is the best for removing asphalt and tar from a car?

Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to this question; it all depends on what we expect from the product; low price, ease of use, surface safety during use, working time, etc.

From the experience that we have gained over the last 11 years, we have found no single product on the market that would meet all the requirements during detailing work. However, thanks to our experience and testing many tar removers, we have selected our favourite and most effective products that we use every day and are available in our store.

The best tar remover for general tar removal

For general tar removal, our favourite product is Vasco Prewash. Unlike most tar removers, this product is not solvent-based; it is a “cold degreaser”. The most important feature of this product is that, with proper use, you can remove tar from the car contactless, without the need to wash the car beforehand; the second essential feature of Vasco Prewash is that the product is completely safe for all external surfaces, does not damage plastics and other delicate surfaces. Another advantage of this product is that it removes tar and general dirt when used on a dirty car. Vasco Prewash is not a price competitor of the cheapest tar removers, but due to the time saved, from our perspective, it is the most profitable to use. The estimated cost of removing tar from 1 car when buying a product is about 2.5-3 euros per car if we buy a 25l drum.

Vasco Prewash is relatively safe for coatings or stronger sealants but not for natural waxes. The best product for removing tar and be safe for protection applied on a car is Mac Serien Prick Bort; it is a paraffin-based product. It does not harm the car’s protected surfaces and delicate surfaces and does not evaporate as quickly as solvent-based products.

Solvent-based tar removers

Solvent-based tar removers are great for removing adhesives from cars. They are also an ideal solution for people who cannot perform contactless tar removal due to tar removal in various conditions. Solvent-based products work quickly, but they require pre-washing the car, drying and manually removing the tar by wiping off the tar with a microfiber cloth. ADBL Tar Pro is a professional tar remover that works very effectively on tar as well as adhesives. It is not the cheapest, but it is relatively one of the safest solvent tar removers we have used.

If the product’s price is of the greatest importance due to a large amount of the agent used, Autopia Tar & Glue remover will be the best choice. It is a remedy that works very effectively on tar and glues.
